عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ قَالَ:
كَانَ يَكْرَهُ قَتْلُ أَهْلِ الشِّرْكِ صَبْرًا وَيَتْلُو: ﴿فَشُدُّوا الْوَثَاقَ فَإِمَّا مَنًّا بَعْدُ وَإِمَّا فِدَاءً ﴾قَالَ: " وَأَقُولُ: ثُمَّ نَسَخَتْهَا: ﴿فَخُذُوهُمْ وَاقْتُلُوهُمْ حَيْثُ وَجَدْتُمُوهُمْ ﴾وَنَزَلَتْ - زَعَمُوا - فِي الْعَرَبِ خَاصَّةً، وَقَتَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ صَبْرًا
Translation
✧ He disliked killing the polytheists patiently and would recite: 'So tighten their bonds, and thereafter either grace or ransom' (Q 47:4). He said, 'And I say: Then it was abrogated by: "So seize them and kill them wherever you find them" (Q 4:89). And it was revealed—they claimed—specifically about the Arabs.' The Prophet ﷺ killed 'Uqba b. Abi Mu'ayt on the day of Badr patiently.
