عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ:
كَانَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ إِذَا بَعَثَ جُيُوشَهُ إِلَى الشَّامِ قَالَ: إِنَّكُمْ سَتَجِدُونَ قَوْمًا قَدْ فَحَصُوا عَنْ رُءُوسِهِمْ بِالسُّيُوفِ، وَسَتَجِدُونَ قَوْمًا قَدْ حَبَسُوا أَنْفُسَهُمْ فِي الصَّوَامِعِ فَذَرْهُمْ بِخَطَايَاهُمْ
Translation

machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Maʿmar, from al-Zuhrī, who said:
✧ When Abu Bakr sent his armies to Syria, he would say: 'You will find a people who have shaved their heads with swords, and you will find a people who have confined themselves in monasteries, so leave them with their sins.'
