قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ: وَأَخْبَرَنِي مَنْ سَمِعَ عَطَاءً يَقُولُ:
طَوَافُ سَبْعٍ خَيْرٌ لَكَ مِنْ سَفَرِكَ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ قُلْتُ: فَآتِي جُدَّةَ ؟ قَالَ: " لَا، إِنَّمَا أُمِرْتُمْ بِالطَّوَافِ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: فَأَخْرُجُ إِلَى الشَّجَرَةِ، فَأَعْتَمِرُ مِنْهَا ؟ قَالَ: " لَا ". قَالَ: " وَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْعُلَمَاءِ: مَا زَالَتَا قَدَمَايَ مُنْذُ قَدِمْتُ مَكَّةَ " قَالَ: قُلْتُ: فَالِاخْتِلَافُ أَحَبُّ إِلَيْكَ أَمِ الْجِوَارُ ؟ قَالَ: " بَلِ الِاخْتِلَافُ ".
Translation
✧ Circumambulating seven times is better for you than your journey to Madinah. I said: "Then should I go to Jeddah?" He said: "No. You were only commanded to circumambulate." He said: I said: "Then should I go out to the tree and perform Umrah from it?" He said: "No." He said: "And some scholars said: 'My feet have not ceased since I arrived in Makkah.'" He said: I said: "Is travelling back and forth more beloved to you or residing nearby?" He said: "Rather travelling back and forth."
