عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ:
وَضَعَ اللهُ الْبَيْتَ مَعَ آدَمَ، أَهْبَطَ اللهُ آدَمَ إِلَى الْأَرْضِ وَكَانَ مَهْبِطُهُ بِأَرْضِ الْهِنْدِ، وَكَانَ رَأْسُهُ فِي السَّمَاءِ، وَرِجْلَاهُ فِي الْأَرْضِ، فَكَانَتِ الْمَلَائِكَةُ تَهَابُهُ، فَنُقِصَ إِلَى سِتِّينَ ذِرَاعًا فَحَزِنَ آدَمُ إِذْ فَقَدَ أَصْوَاتَ الْمَلَائِكَةِ وَتَسْبِيحَهُمْ، فَشَكَى ذَلِكَ إِلَى اللهِ تَعَالَى، فَقَالَ اللهُ: يَا آدَمُ إِنِّي قَدْ أَهْبَطْتُ لَكَ بَيْتًا فَطُفْ بِهِ كَمَا يُطَافُ حَوْلَ عَرْشِي، وَصَلِّ عِنْدَهُ كَمَا يُصَلَّى عِنْدَ عَرْشِي فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِ آدَمُ فَمَدَّ لَهُ فِي خَطْوِهِ، فَكَانَ بَيْنَ كُلِّ خُطْوَةٍ مَفَازَةٌ فَلَمْ تَزَلْ تِلْكَ الْمَفَاوِزُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ وَأَتَى آدَمُ إِلَى الْبَيْتِ فَطَافَ بِهِ، وَمِنْ بَعْدِهِ الْأَنْبِيَاءُ "
Translation

machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Maʿmar, from Qatādah, who said:
✧ Allah placed the House with Adam. Allah sent Adam down to the earth, and his landing place was in the land of India. His head was in the sky and his feet on the earth, and the angels were in awe of him, so he was reduced to sixty cubits. Adam grieved when he lost the voices of the angels and their glorification, so he complained about that to Allah, the Exalted. Allah said: "O Adam, I have sent down a House for you, so circumambulate it as one circumambulates around My Throne, and pray at it as one prays at My Throne." Adam went out to it, and his stride was extended, so between each step there was a desert, and those deserts remained after that. Adam came to the House and circumambulated it, and after him the prophets did so.
