✧ People's Supplication at the Doors of the Mosque

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: هَلْ بَلَغَكَ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَوْ بَعْضَ أَصْحَابِهِ كَانَ يَسْتَقْبِلُ الْبَيْتَ حِينَ يَخْرُجُ وَيَدْعُو ؟ قَالَ: " لَا، ثُمَّ أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِبَعْضِ مَنْ يَسْتَقْبِلُ الْبَيْتَ كَذَلِكَ - يَدْعُو إِذَا خَرَجَ عِنْدَ خُرُوجِهِ -: " لِمَ يَصْنَعُونَ ؟ هَذَا صَنِيعُ الْيَهُودِ فِي كِتَابِهِمُ، ادْعُوا فِي الْبَيْتِ مَا بَدَا لَكُمْ، ثُمَّ اخْرُجُوا
Translation
✧ I said to ʿAṭāʾ: Has it reached you that the Prophet ﷺ or some of his companions used to face the House upon exiting and supplicate? He said: No. Then ʿAbd Allāh b. ʿAmr b. al-ʿĀṣ informed me that he said to some of those who face the House thus—supplicating upon exiting at the time of his departure—: “Why do they do this? This is the practice of the Jews in their scripture. Supplicate inside the House as much as you wish, then exit.”
