✧ Seeking Refuge at the House

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدٌ الْأَعْرَجُ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ قَالَ:
جِئْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ وَهُوَ " يَتَعَوَّذُ بَيْنَ الرُّكْنِ وَالْبَابِ وَهُوَ مُتَّكِئٌ عَلَى يَدِ عِكْرِمَةَ مَوْلَاهُ "، فَقُلْتُ: أَ ( ﴿سَاحِرَانِ تَظَاهَرَا ﴾) أَمْ سِحْرَانِ ؟ فَلَا يُرْجِعُهُمَا، فَقَالَ عِكْرِمَةُ: ﴿سَاحِرَانِ تَظَاهَرَا ﴾أَكْثَرْتَ عَلَيْهِ
Translation
✧ I came to Ibn Abbas while he was seeking refuge between the Corner and the Door, leaning on the hand of Ikrimah, his freed slave. I said: "Is it 'two magicians supporting each other' or 'two sorceries'?" He did not answer either. Ikrimah said: "'Two magicians supporting each other' - you have pressed him too much."
