Translation

✧ A man asked him, “O Abu Abd al-Rahman, what about a man employed over the alms who takes from them and performs Hajj with that?” Ibn Umar said, “What if someone stole the baggage of pilgrims and performed Hajj with it?” The man said, “May Allah forgive, O Abu Abd al-Rahman.” Ibn Umar said, “Verily, these alms are for the poor.”
