✧ The Elephant and Eating Elephant Meat

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَطَاءٌ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ:
إِنَّ اللهَ أَحَلَّ، وَحَرَّمَ فَمَا أَحَلَّ فَأَحِلُّوهُ وَمَا حَرَّمَ فَاجْتَنِبُوهُ، وَتَرَكَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ أَشْيَاءَ لَمْ يُحَرِّمْهَا، وَلَمْ يُحِلَّهَا، فَذَلِكَ عَفْوٌ مِنَ اللهِ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: ﴿يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لا تَسْأَلُوا عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ ﴾الْآيَةَ.
Translation
✧ God made lawful and made unlawful; so what He made lawful, make it lawful, and what He made unlawful, avoid it. And He left some things that He did not make unlawful nor make lawful; that is a pardon from God. Then he recites: “O you who believe, do not ask about things…” the verse.
