✧ The Slaughter of the People of the Book

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ أَنَّهُ
سُئِلَ عَنْ يَهُودِيٍّ ذَبَحَ شَاةً، فَأَخْطَأَ فِيهَا حَتَّى حَرُمَتْ عَلَيْهِ ؟ قَالَ: لَا يَحِلُّ لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنْ يَأْكُلَهَا، فَإِذَا قَرَّبَ إِلَيْكَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ طَعَامًا، فَأْمُرْهُ أَنْ يَأْكُلَ، فَإِنْ أَكَلَ فَكُلْ، وَإِنْ لَمْ يَأْكُلْ فَلَا تَأْكُلْهُ
Translation
✧ He was asked about a Jew who slaughtered a sheep and erred regarding it so that it became forbidden to him. He said: It is not lawful for a Muslim to eat it. If a man from the People of the Book offers you food, tell him to eat; if he eats, then eat, and if he does not eat, then do not eat it.
