✧ The Slaughter of the People of the Book

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ عَبِيدَةَ السَّلْمَانِيِّ،
أَنَّ عَلِيًّا كَانَ يَكْرَهُ ذَبِيحَةَ نَصَارَى بَنِي تَغْلِبَ، وَيَقُولُ: إِنَّهُمْ لَا يَتَمَسَّكُونَ مِنَ النَّصْرَانِيَّةِ إِلَّا بِشُرْبِ الْخَمْرِ
Translation
✧ ʿAlī used to dislike the slaughter of the Christians of Banū Taghlib, saying: "They do not adhere to Christianity except by drinking wine."
