عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النَّجُودِ، عَنْ زِرِّ بْنِ حُبَيْشٍ قَالَ:
خَرَجَ أَهْلُ الْمَدِينَةِ فِي مَشْهَدٍ لَهُمْ، فَإِذَا أَنَا بِرَجُلٍ أَصْلَعَ أَعْسَرَ أَيْسَرَ قَدْ أَشْرَفَ فَوْقَ النَّاسِ بِذِرَاعٍ عَلَيْهِ إِزَارٌ غَلِيظٌ وَبُرْدٌ غَلِيظٌ قُطْنٌ، وَهُوَ مُتَلَبِّبٌ بِهِ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ هَاجِرُوا، وَلَا تَهَجَّرُوا، وَلَا يَحْذِفَنَّ أَحَدُكُمُ الْأَرْنَبَ بِعَصَاةٍ أَوْ بِحَجَرٍ، ثُمَّ يَأْكُلُهَا وَلْيُذَكِّ لَكُمُ الْأَسَلُ: الرِّمَاحُ، وَالنَّبْلُ "، فَقُلْتُ: مَنْ هَذَا ؟ فَقَالُوا: عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ ؓ
Translation
✧ The people of Madinah went out to a gathering of theirs, and there I saw a bald man, left-handed yet using his right, who towered above the people by a forearm’s length, wearing a coarse lower garment and a coarse cotton cloak, wrapped in it, saying: “O people, perform hijrah and do not merely claim it. None of you should strike a hare with a stick or a stone and then eat it. Let the asal—the spears—and the arrows make it lawful for you.” I said, “Who is this?” They said, “Umar b. al-Khattab ؓ.”
