✧ Whichever expiations he wishes, he may expiate

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، وَالثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ، عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ
فِي قَوْلِهِ: ﴿فَجَزَاءٌ مِثْلُ مَا قَتَلَ مِنَ النَّعَمِ يَحْكُمُ بِهِ ذَوَا عَدْلٍ مِنْكُمْ ﴾قَالَ: " يَحْكُمُ عَلَيْهِ هَدْيًا، فَإِنْ وَجَدَ هَدْيًا، وَإِلَّا قُوِّمَ الْهَدْيُ طَعَامًا، ثُمَّ قُوِّمَ الطَّعَامُ صِيَامًا، مَكَانُ كُلِّ طَعَامِ مِسْكِينٍ صَوْمُ يَوْمٍ " قَالَ مُجَاهِدٌ: " مَكَانُ كُلِّ مُدَّيْنِ صِيَامُ يَوْمٍ
Translation
✧ About His words: “Then compensation of the like of what he killed from livestock, as judged by two just men among you” (Q 5:95). He said: "They judge against him a sacrificial animal, if he finds it; otherwise the sacrificial animal is valued in food, then the food is valued in fasting: for each poor person’s portion of food, one day of fasting." Mujahid said: "For every two mudds, one day of fasting."
