✧ Spiritual retreat and I'tikaf

قَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ: قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، قَالَ عَطَاءٌ:
هُوَ اعْتِكَافٌ مَا مَكَثَ فِيهِ، وَإِنْ جَلَسَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ احْتِسَابَ الْخَيْرِ فَهُوَ مُعْتَكِفٌ وَإِلَّا فَلَا
Translation
✧ It is i'tikaf as long as he remains in it; and if he sits in the mosque seeking the reward of goodness, then he is a mu'takif, otherwise not.
