Translation
✧ The people of the Jahiliyyah used to slaughter a sheep for every household in Rajab, calling it the 'atirah. When Islam came, some men, among them 'Abd Allah b. 'Amr, asked the Messenger of God ﷺ: "Something we used to do in the Jahiliyyah, O Messenger of God, which we called the 'atirah. We used to slaughter it for the people of every household in Rajab. Should we do it in Islam?" He said: "Yes, and call it the rajibah."
