عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، وَابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي ضَمْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ أَوْ عَمِّهِ قَالَ:

سُئِلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْفَرَعِ فَقَالَ: " حَقٌّ، وَأَنْ تَتْرُكَهُ حَتَّى يَكُونَ ابْنَ مَخَاضٍ، أَوِ ابْنَ لَبُونٍ زُخْزُبًّا خَيْرٌ مِنْ أَنْ تَكْفَأَ إِنَاءَكَ، وَتُوَلِّهَ نَاقَتَكَ وَتَذْبَحَهُ، فَيَخْتَلِطَ، أَوْ قَالَ: يَلْصَقَ شَعَرُهُ بِلَحْمِهِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ was asked about the fara'. He said: "It is a right, but that you leave it until it becomes a b. makhad or a b. labun, zahzabba, is better than that you overturn your vessel, bereave your she-camel, and slaughter it, so that its hair becomes mixed—or he said—sticks to its flesh."
