عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ قَالَ:
لَمَّا وَلَدَتْ فَاطِمَةُ الْحَسَنَ بْنَ عَلِيٍّ جَاءَتْ بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ " فَسَمَّاهُ حَسَنًا، فَلَمَّا وَلَدَتْ حُسَيْنًا جَاءَتْ بِهِ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ، فَقَالَتْ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ ! هَذَا أَحْسَنُ مِنْ هَذَا، تَعْنِي حُسَيْنًا فَشَقَّ لَهُ مِنِ اسْمِهِ فَسَمَّاهُ حُسَيْنًا
Translation
✧ When Fatimah gave birth to al-Hasan b. 'Ali, she brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he named him Hasan. When she gave birth to Husayn, she brought him to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this one is more beautiful than that one,' meaning Husayn. So he derived a name for him from his own name and called him Husayn.
