✧ The 'Aqiqah

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ حَبِيبَةَ ابْنَةِ مَيْسَرَةَ بْنِ أَبِي خَيْثَمٍ، عَنْ أُمِّ بَنِي كُرْزٍ الْكَعْبِيَّةِ
أَنَّهَا سَأَلَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ عَنِ الْعَقِيقَةِ، فَقَالَ: عَلَى الْغُلَامِ شَاتَانِ مُكَافَأَتَانِ، وَعَلَى الْجَارِيَةِ شَاةٌ قَالَتْ: قُلْتُ: وَمَا الْمُكَافَأَةُ ؟ قَالَ: " الْمِثْلَانِ، وَإِنَّ الضَّأْنَ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنَ الْمَعْزِ، ذُكْرَانُهَا أَحَبُّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ إِنَاثِهَا رَأْيًا مِنْهُ
Translation
✧ She asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about the 'aqiqah. He said: "For a boy two equivalent sheep, and for a girl one sheep." She said: "I said: What is equivalent?" He said: "Two similar ones. Sheep (da'n) are more beloved to me than goats, their males more beloved to him than their females, as his opinion."
