أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ الْخُرَاسَانِيِّ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ يَعْمَرَ قَالَ:
قَدِمَ عَمَّارُ بْنُ يَاسِرٍ فَضَمَّخَهُ أَهْلُهُ بِالصُّفْرَةِ قَالَ: ثُمَّ جِئْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ: " وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ اذْهَبْ فَاغْتَسِلْ "، قَالَ: فَذَهَبْتُ فَاغْتَسَلْتُ، ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ، وَبِي أَثَرُ الصُّفْرَةِ، فَقُلْتُ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَقَالَ: " وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ، اذْهَبْ فَاغْتَسِلْ "، قَالَ: فَذَهَبْتُ فَاغْتَسَلْتُ، ثُمَّ رَجَعْتُ، وَبِي أَثَرُهُ حَتَّى فَعَلْتُ ذَلِكَ مَرَّاتٍ، ثُمَّ ذَهَبْتُ الثَّالِثَةَ، فَأَخَذْتُ نَشَفًا فَدَلَّكْتُ بِهَا جِلْدِي حَتَّى ظَنَنْتُ أَنِّي قَدْ أَنْقَيْتُ جِلْدِي، ثُمَّ أَتَيْتُ، فَقُلْتُ: السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكُمْ، فَقَالَ: " وَعَلَيْكَ السَّلَامُ اجْلِسْ "، ثُمَّ قَالَ: إِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ لَا تَحْضُرُ جِنَازَةَ كَافِرٍ بِخَيْرٍ، وَلَا جُنُبًا حَتَّى يَغْتَسِلَ، أَوْ يَتَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ، وَلَا مُضَمَّخًا بِصُفْرَةٍ
Translation
✧ ʿAmmār b. Yāsir arrived, and his family smeared him with ṣufrah (yellow perfume). He said: Then I came to the Prophet ﷺ, greeted him, and he said, “And upon you be peace. Go and wash.” So I went and washed, then returned with traces of ṣufrah still on me. I said, “Peace be upon you,” and he said, “And upon you be peace. Go and wash.” So I went and washed, then returned with traces of it still on me, until I did that several times. Then I went the third time, took a rough cloth, and rubbed my skin with it until I thought I had cleaned my skin. Then I came and said, “Peace be upon you,” and he said, “And upon you be peace. Sit.” Then he said, “The angels do not attend the funeral of an unbeliever with good, nor one who is junub until he washes or performs ablution as for prayer, nor one smeared with ṣufrah.”
