✧ The virtue of fasting

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ قَالَ:
كُنَّا عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللهِ فَأُتِيَ بِشَرَابٍ، فَقَالَ: " نَاوِلْهُ الْقَوْمَ " فَقَالُوا: نَحْنُ صِيَامٌ، فَقَالَ: " لَكِنِّي لَسْتُ صَائِمًا، فَشَرِبَ " ثُمَّ قَرَأَ ﴿يَخَافُونَ يَوْمًا تَتَقَلَّبُ فِيهِ الْقُلُوبُ وَالأَبْصَارُ ﴾
Translation
✧ We were with 'Abd Allah when a drink was brought to him. He said, “Pass it to the people.” They said, “We are fasting.” He said, “But I am not fasting,” and he drank. Then he recited: “They fear a day when hearts and eyes will turn about.” [Quran 24:37]
