✧ Fasting on the Day of Arafah

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَوْلًى لِابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ سَمَّاهُ قَالَ:
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَهُوَ يَأْكُلُ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ قَالَ: " ادْنُ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: إِنِّي صَائِمٌ قَالَ: " ادْنُ " قُلْتُ: إِنْ شِئْتَ فَعَلْتُ، قَالَ: " وَتُخْبِرُ النَّاسَ أَنِّي أَمَرْتُكَ أَنْ تُفْطِرَ ؟ "، قَالَ: نَعَمْ، قَالَ: " فَسَكَتْ عَنِّي فَلَمْ يَأْمُرْنِي، وَلَمْ يَنْهَنِي
Translation
✧ I entered upon Ibn Umar while he was eating on the day of Arafah. He said: 'Come near.' I said: 'I am fasting.' He said: 'Come near.' I said: 'If you wish, I will do so.' He said: 'Will you inform people that I ordered you to break your fast?' He said: 'Yes.' He said: 'Then he remained silent about me and neither ordered me nor forbade me.'
