عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ الْحُصَيْنِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ هُرْمُزَ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ:
مَا أَدْرَكْتُ النَّاسَ إِلَّا وَهُمْ يَلْعَنُونَ الْكَفَرَةَ فِي شَهْرِ رَمَضَانَ، قَالَ: " فَكَانَ الْقُرَّاءُ يَقُومُونَ بِسُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ فِي ثَمَانِي رَكَعَاتٍ، فَإِذَا قَامَ بِهَا الْقُرَّاءُ فِي اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً رَأَى النَّاسُ أَنَّهُ قَدْ خَفَّفَ عَنْهُمْ
Translation
✧ I found the people only while they were cursing the disbelievers in the month of Ramadan. He said: 'The reciters would stand [in prayer] with Surah al-Baqarah in eight rak'ahs, and when the reciters stood with it in twelve rak'ahs, the people considered that he had made it lighter for them.'
