✧ Delaying the Sahur

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جَهْمَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَمِيدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ،
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَعَثَ أَبَا قَتَادَةَ فِي حَاجَةٍ لِي، فَجَاءَهُ بَعْدَمَا أَسْفَرَ جِدًّا يَقُولُ: بَعْدَ الْفَجْرِ الْأَوَّلِ فَقَدَّمَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ سَحُورًا، فَقَالَ: أَيْ رَسُولَ اللهِ! قَدْ أَصْبَحْتُ، فَقَالَ: " تَسَحَّرُوا " وَطَبَّقَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يُجِيفُ الْبَابَ حَتَّى لَا يَبِينَ لَهُ الْإِسْفَارُ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ، خَرَجَ فَوَجَدَهُ قَدْ أَسْفَرَ جِدًّا، يَقُولُ: " بَعْدَ الْفَجْرِ الْأَوَّلِ
Translation
✧ The Prophet ﷺ sent Abu Qatadah on an errand for me, and he came to him after it had become very bright, meaning after the first dawn. The Prophet ﷺ offered him a pre-dawn meal, but he said: 'O Messenger of God! Morning has come for me.' He said: 'Eat the pre-dawn meal.' And the Prophet ﷺ closed the door, shutting it so that the brightness would not be apparent to him. When he finished, he went out and found that it had become very bright, meaning after the first dawn.
