✧ Hastening the breaking of the fast

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ:
كُنْتُ جَالِسًا عِنْدَ عُمَرَ إِذْ جَاءَهُ رَكْبٌ مِنَ الشَّامِ فَطَفِقَ عُمَرُ يَسْتَخْبِرُ عَنْ حَالِهِمْ، فَقَالَ: " هَلْ يُعَجِّلُ أَهْلُ الشَّامِ الْفِطْرَ ؟ "، قَالَ: نَعَمْ. قَالَ: " لَنْ يَزَالُوا بِخَيْرٍ مَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ، وَلَمْ يَنْتَظِرُوا النُّجُومَ انْتِظَارَ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ
Translation
✧ I was sitting with ʿUmar when a rider came to him from Syria, and ʿUmar began inquiring about their condition. He said: "Do the people of Syria hasten the breaking of the fast?" He said: Yes. He said: "They will remain in good as long as they do that and do not wait for the stars as the people of Iraq wait."
