✧ The supplication upon sighting the crescent

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ،
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا رَأَى الْهِلَالَ كَبَّرَ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: هِلَالُ خَيْرٍ وَرُشْدٍ ثَلَاثًا، ثُمَّ قَالَ: آمَنْتُ بِالَّذِي خَلَقَكَ ثَلَاثًا ثُمَّ يَقُولُ: الْحَمْدُ لِلهِ الَّذِي ذَهَبَ بِشَهْرِ كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَجَاءَ بِشَهْرِ كَذَا وَكَذَا
Translation
✧ When the Prophet ﷺ saw the crescent moon, he would say “Allahu Akbar” three times, then say: “A crescent of good and guidance” three times. Then he would say: “I believe in the One who created you” three times. Then he would say: “Praise be to Allah who has taken away the month of such-and-such and brought the month of such-and-such.”
