عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ بُرْقَانَ، عَنِ الْحَكَمِ، أَوْ غَيْرِهِ، عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ،
أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ هُوَ وَرَجُلٌ مَعَهُ عَلَى عَائِشَةَ يَوْمَ عَرَفَةَ فَقَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ: يَا جَارِيَةُ خَوِّضِي لَهُمَا سَوِيقًا، وَحَلِّيهِ فَلَوْلَا أَنِّي صَائِمَةٌ لَذُقْتُهُ، قَالَا: أَتَصُومِينَ يَا أُمَّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، وَلَا تَدْرِينَ لَعَلَّهُ يَوْمُ يَوْمِ النَّحْرِ، فَقَالَتْ: " إِنَّمَا النَّحْرُ إِذَا نَحَرَ الْإِمَامُ وَعُظْمُ النَّاسِ، وَالْفِطْرُ إِذَا أَفْطَرَ الْإِمَامُ وَعُظْمُ النَّاسِ
Translation
✧ He entered with a man accompanying him upon Aisha on the day of Arafah. Aisha said: O girl, mix for them some sawiq and sweeten it. Were it not that I am fasting, I would taste it. They said: Are you fasting, O Mother of the Believers, while you do not know, perhaps it is the day of sacrifice? She said: "Sacrifice is only when the imam slaughters and the majority of people do, and breaking the fast is when the imam breaks the fast and the majority of people do."
