عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ قَالَ:
لَمَّا أَتَاهُمُ ابْنُ رَوَاحَةَ جَمَعُوا لَهُ حُلِيًّا مِنْ حُلِيِّ نِسَائِهِمْ، فَأَهْدَوْهَا إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: " يَا مَعْشَرَ الْيَهُودِ، وَاللهِ إِنَّكُمْ لَأَبْغَضُ خَلْقِ اللهِ إِلَيَّ، وَمَا ذَاكَ بِحَامِلِي أَنْ أَحِيفَ عَلَيْكُمْ، وَأَمَّا مَا عَرَضْتُمْ عَلَيَّ مِنْ هَذِهِ الرِّشْوَةِ، فَإِنَّهَا سُحْتٌ، وَإِنَّا لَا نَأْكُلُهَا، ثُمَّ خَرَصَ عَلَيْهِمْ، ثُمَّ خَيَّرَهُمْ أَنْ يَأْخُذُوهَا، أَوْ يَأْخُذَهَا هُوَ " فَقَالُوا: بِهَذَا قَامَتِ السَّمَاوَاتُ وَالْأَرْضُ، فَأَخَذُوهَا بِذَلِكَ الْخَرْصِ
Translation
✧ When Ibn Rawāḥah came to them, they gathered jewelry from their women's jewelry and gave it to him as a gift. He said: 'O company of Jews, by God, you are the most hateful of God's creation to me, but that will not make me wrong you. As for what you offered me of this bribe, it is unlawful gain, and we do not consume it.' Then he estimated upon them, then gave them the choice to take it or he would take it. They said: 'By this the heavens and the earth are upheld,' and they took it according to that estimation.
