✧ Zakat on Trade Goods

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ حَمَّادٍ قَالَ:

لَوْ كَانَتْ لِي غَنَمٌ فَزَكَّيْتُهَا، ثُمَّ بِعْتُ مِنْ أَصْوَافِهَا، وَأَلْبَانِهَا بِمِائَتَيْ دِرْهَمٍ لَمْ يَكُنْ فِيهَا زَكَاةٌ فِي الْمِائَتَيْنِ حَتَّى يَحُولَ عَلَيْهِ الْحَوْلُ إِذَا كَانَتْ قَدْ صُدِّقَتْ أَعْنَاقُ الْغَنَمِ " قَالَ: وَقَالَ ذَلِكَ الْحَكَمُ بْنُ عُتَيْبَةَ

Translation

✧ If I had sheep and paid zakat on them, then sold some of their wool and milk for two hundred dirhams, no zakat would be due on the two hundred until a year has passed over them, since the necks of the sheep had already been assessed for zakat. He said: And al-Hakam b. Utayba said the same.
