✧ No charity is due on wealth until a year has passed over it

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ حُسَيْنٍ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ابْنَةِ قُدَامَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهَا قَالَ:
كُنْتُ إِذَا قَبَضْتُ عَطَائِي مِنْ عُثْمَانَ يَقُولُ: " هَلْ عِنْدَكَ مَالٌ قَدْ وَجَبَتْ عَلَيْكَ فِيهِ زَكَاةٌ ؟ فَإِنْ قُلتُ نَعَمْ، أَخَذَ مِنْ عَطَائِي زَكَاةَ ذَلِكَ الْمَالِ، وَإِلَّا دَفَعَ إِلَيَّ عَطَائِي
Translation
✧ When I received my stipend from Uthman, he would say: 'Do you have wealth on which zakah has become obligatory?' If I said yes, he would take the zakah of that wealth from my stipend; otherwise, he would hand over my stipend to me.
