✧ No charity is due on wealth until a year has passed over it

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ:
سَأَلْتُ الزُّهْرِيَّ عَنِ الرَّجُلِ يَكُونُ عِنْدَهُ الْمَالُ وَبَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ مَا يُزَكِّيهِ شَهْرٌ أَوْ شَهْرَانِ ثُمَّ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يَسْتَنْفِقَهُ قَالَ: " كَانَ الْمُسْلِمُونَ يَسْتَحِبُّونَ أَنْ يُخْرِجَ الرَّجُلُ زَكَاتَهُ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَسْتَنْفِقَهُ
Translation
✧ I asked al-Zuhri about a man who has wealth and between him and paying its zakah there remains a month or two, then he wants to spend it. He said: 'The Muslims used to prefer that a man pay his zakah before spending it.'
