✧ No charity is due on the slave

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي دِرْهَمٌ،

أَنَّهُ شَكَى إِلَى أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ مَوَالِيَهُ، وَسَأَلَهُ أَيَتَصَدَّقُ ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: " إِنَّهُ لَا يَحِلُّ لَكَ مِنْ مَالِكَ إِلَّا أَنْ تَأْكُلَ بِالْمَعْرُوفِ أَوْ تُنَاوِلَ مِسْكِينًا أُكْلَةً فِي يَدِهِ

Translation

✧ He complained to Abu Hurayrah about his masters and asked him whether he could give charity. Abu Hurayrah said to him, 'Nothing of your wealth is lawful for you except that you eat in a reasonable manner, or that you hand a poor person a morsel to eat from your hand.'
