عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنِ الْأَجْلَحِ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْهُذَيْلِ قَالَ:
كُنْتُ عِنْدَ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبَّاسٍ فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي مَمْلُوكٌ فَيَمُرُّ بِي الْمَارُّ فَيَسْتَسْقِي مِنَ اللَّبَنِ فَأَسْقِيهِ ؟ قَالَ: " لَا، قَالَ: فَإِنْ خِفْتُ أَنْ يَمُوتَ مِنَ الْعَطَشِ؟ قَالَ: " اسْقِهِ مَا يُبَلِّغُهُ غَيْرَكَ، ثُمَّ اسْتَأْذِنْ أَهْلَكَ فِيمَا سَقَيْتَهُ
Translation
✧ I was with Abd Allah b. Abbas when a man came and said, 'I am a slave, and a passerby passed by me asking for a drink of milk, so shall I give him a drink?' He said, 'No.' The man said, 'What if I fear that he might die of thirst?' He said, 'Give him a drink just enough to sustain him until someone else takes over, then seek your family's permission regarding what you gave him to drink.'
