✧ Consuming wealth unjustly

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
سَمِعْتُ عَطَاءً، يُسْأَلُ عَنْ تَغْرِيزِ الْإِبِلِ ؟ قَالَ: " إِنْ كَانَ ذَلِكَ مُبَاهَاةً وَرِيَاءً فَلَا، وَإِنْ كَانَ يُرِيدُ أَنْ يُصْلِحَ فِيهِ الْبَيْعَ فَلَا بَأْسَ "، قَالَ: قُلْتُ: مَا تَغْرِيزُهَا قَالَ: " يَضْرِبُهَا وَيَطْعَنُهَا بِالْعَصَا فِي خَاصِرَتِهَا
Translation
✧ I heard ʿAṭāʾ being asked about prodding camels. He said: If that is for boasting and showing off, then no. But if he intends to improve the sale, there is no harm. He said: I said: What is prodding them? He said: He strikes them and pokes them with a stick in their flanks.
