عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ عَمِيرَةَ الْكِنْدِيِّ قَالَ:
خَطَبَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: يَا أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ مَنِ اسْتَعْمَلْنَا مِنْكُمْ عَلَى عَمَلٍ فَيَكْتُمَنَا مِخْيَطًا فَمَا فَوْقَهُ فَهُوَ غُلٌّ يَأْتِي بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ "، فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ أَسْوَدُ كَأَنِّي أَنْظُرُ إِلَيْهِ الْآنَ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ اقْبَلْ عَنِّي عَمَلَكَ، قَالَ: " وَمَا ذَاكَ ؟ " قَالَ: سَمِعْتُكَ تَقُولُ الَّذِي قُلْتَ آنِفًا، قَالَ: " وَأَنَا أَقُولُهُ مَنِ اسْتَعْمَلْنَا مِنْكُمْ عَلَى عَمَلٍ فَلْيَأْتِ بِقَلِيلِهِ، وَكَثِيرِهِ، فَمَا أُوتِيَ مِنْهُ أَخَذَ، وَمَا نُهِيَ عَنْهُ انْتَهَى
Translation

machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq, from al-Thawrī, from Ismāʿīl b. Abī Khālid, from Qays b. Abī Ḥāzim, from ʿAdī b. ʿUmayrah al-Kindī, who said:
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ addressed us and said: O people, whoever among you we appoint over some task and he conceals from us a needle or anything greater, that is a misappropriation he will bring on the Day of Resurrection. Then a black man of the Anṣār stood up—it is as if I can see him now—and said: O Messenger of Allah, take back my appointment. He said: Why is that? He said: I heard you say what you just said. He said: And I say it: whoever among you we appoint over some task, let him bring its small and its great; whatever he is given from it he takes, and whatever he is forbidden he refrains from.
