عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ:
سَأَلْتُ حَمَّادًا، عَنْ رَجُلٍ بَعَثَ بِزَكَاتِهِ مَعَ رَجُلٍ يَدْفَعُهَا إِلَى السُّلْطَانِ، فَهَلَكَتْ فِي الطَّرِيقِ، أَتُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ ؟ قَالَ: فَضَحِكَ، وَقَالَ: مَا أَنْتُمْ يَا أَهْلَ الْبَصْرَةِ إِلَّا قِطْعَةٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الشَّامِ، سَكَنْتُمْ بَيْنَ أَهْلِ الْعِرَاقِ، وَلَا تُجْزِئُ عَنْهُ وَإِنْ بَلَغَتْ أَيْضًا، هِيَ بِمَنْزِلَةِ الدَّيْنِ، قَالَ: قُلْتُ لَهُ: فَابْنُ عُمَرَ قَالَ: " ادْفَعُوا إِلَيْهِمْ، وَإِنْ تَمَزَّقُوا لُحُومَ الْكِلَابِ عَلَى مَوَائِدِهِمْ "، فَقَالَ: مَعَاذَ اللهِ أَنْ يَقُولَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ ذَلِكَ.
Translation
✧ I asked Hammad about a man who sent his zakat with a man to hand it to the ruler, and it perished on the way: does it suffice on his behalf? He said: He laughed and said: You people of Basra are nothing but a piece of the people of Sham; you have settled among the people of Iraq. It does not suffice on his behalf, even if it reaches. It is in the position of a debt. I said to him: What about Ibn Umar, who said: "Give it to them, even if they tear the flesh of dogs on their tables"? He said: God forbid that Ibn Umar said that.
