Translation
✧ ‘Abd al-Razzāq, from Ibn Jurayj, who said: ‘Amr informed me that Yaḥyā b. Ya‘lā informed him that he heard Ya‘lā b. Umayya say: ‘Abd al-Raḥmān b. Umayya, the brother of Ya‘lā b. Umayya, bought a female horse from a man from Yemen for one hundred young she-camels. The seller regretted it, so he went to ‘Umar and said: Ya‘lā and his brother seized a horse of mine by force. So ‘Umar wrote to Ya‘lā: Come to me. He came and told him the story. ‘Umar said: “Do horses reach this price among you?” Then he said: “I did not know of a horse reaching this price before this.” ‘Umar said: “We take one sheep from forty sheep, but we do not take anything from horses. Take from every horse one dinar.” He said: “So he imposed on horses one dinar, one dinar.”
