عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُوقَةَ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو يَعْلَى مُنْذِرٌ الثَّوْرِيُّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ ابْنِ الْحَنَفِيَّةِ قَالَ:
جَاءَ نَاسٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ إِلَى أَبِي فَشَكَوْا سُعَاةَ عُثْمَانَ فَقَالَ أَبِي: " خُذْ هَذَا الْكِتَابَ فَاذْهَبْ إِلَى عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ فَقُلْ لَهُ: قَالَ أَبِي: إِنَّ نَاسًا مِنَ النَّاسِ قَدْ جَاءُوا شَكَوْا سُعَاتَكَ وَهَذَا أَمْرُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْفَرَائِضِ فَلْيَأْخُذُوا بِهِ "، فَانْطَلَقْتُ بِالْكِتَابِ حَتَّى دَخَلْتُ عَلَى عُثْمَانَ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: إِنَّ أَبِي أَرْسَلَنِي إِلَيْكَ، وَذَكَرَ أَنَّ نَاسًا مِنَ النَّاسِ شَكَوْا سُعَاتَكَ، وَهَذَا أَمْرُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْفَرَائِضِ فَأْمُرْهُمْ فَلْيَأْخُذُوا بِهِ، فَقَالَ: لَا حَاجَةَ لَنَا فِي كِتَابِكَ قَالَ: فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى أَبِي فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ، فَقَالَ أَبِي: " لَا عَلَيْكَ ارْدُدِ الْكِتَابَ مِنْ حَيْثُ أَخَذْتَهُ "، قَالَ: " فَلَوْ كَانَ ذَاكِرًا عُثْمَانَ بِشَيْءٍ لَذَكَرَهُ - يَعْنِي بِسُوءٍ - " قَالَ: " وَإِنَّمَا كَانَ فِي الْكِتَابِ مَا فِي حَدِيثِ عَلِيٍّ
Translation

machine translationʿAbd al-Razzāq, from Ibn ʿUyaynah, who said: Muḥammad b. Sūqah informed me, who said: Abū Yaʿlā Mundhir al-Thawrī informed me, from Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥanafiyyah, who said:
✧ Some people came to my father and complained about Uthman's collectors. My father said: Take this document and go to Uthman b. Affan and say to him: My father said: Some people have come and complained about your collectors. This is the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding the obligatory sadaqat, so let them follow it. I departed with the document and entered upon Uthman. I said to him: My father sent me to you, and he mentioned that some people complained about your collectors. This is the command of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ regarding the obligatory sadaqat, so order them to follow it. He said: We have no need of your document. He said: I returned to my father and informed him. My father said: It does not matter; return the document to where you took it from. He said: If he had remembered anything about Uthman, he would have mentioned it—meaning something bad. He said: The document contained only what is in the hadith of Ali.
