✧ What to say when you see a funeral

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ قَالَ: بَلَغَنِي عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ،
أَنَّهُ كَانَ إِذَا مُرَّ عَلَيْهِ بِجِنَازَةٍ قَالَ: " رُوحِي فَإِنَّا غَادُونَ، أَوِ اغْدِي فَإِنَّا رَائِحُونَ، مَوْعِظَةٌ بَلِيغَةٌ، وَغَفْلَةٌ سَرِيعَةٌ، يَذْهَبُ الْأَوَّلُ وَيَبْقَى الْآخِرُ لَا عَقْلَ لَهُ
Translation
✧ When a funeral passed by him, he would say: Depart, for we are leaving early, or leave early, for we are departing – a powerful admonition and a swift heedlessness. The first goes and the last remains, with no sense.
