✧ The prayer over the martyr and washing him

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ، عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ الْهَادِ،
أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَعْرَابِ جَاءَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَآمَنَ بِهِ وَاتَّبَعَهُ، وَقَالَ: أُهَاجِرُ مَعَكَ، فَأَوْصَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بِهِ بَعْضَ أَصْحَابِهِ، فَلَمَّا كَانَتْ غَزْوَةُ خَيْبَرَ - أَوْ قَالَ: حُنَيْنٍ - غَنِمَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ شَيْئًا يُقْسَمُ، وَقَسَمَ لَهُ، فَأَعْطَى أَصْحَابَهُ مَا قَسَمَ، وَكَانَ يَرْعَى ظَهْرَهُمْ، فَلَمَّا جَاءَ دَفَعُوهُ إِلَيْهِ، فَقَالَ: مَا هَذَا ؟ قَالَ: قَسْمٌ قَسَمَهُ لَكَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ، فَأَخَذَهُ فَجَاءَ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقَالَ: مَا هَذَا يَا مُحَمَّدُ ؟ قَالَ: " قَسْمٌ قَسَمْتُهُ لَكَ " قَالَ: مَا عَلَى هَذَا اتَّبَعْتُكَ، وَلَكِنِّي اتَّبَعْتُكَ عَلَى أَنْ أُرْمَى هَاهُنَا - وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى حَلْقِهِ - بِسَهْمٍ فَأَمُوتَ فَأَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ قَالَ: " إِنْ تَصْدُقِ اللهَ يَصْدُقْكَ " فَلَبِثُوا قَلِيلًا ثُمَّ نَهَضُوا فِي قِتَالِ الْعَدُوِّ، فَأُتِيَ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ يُحْمَلُ وَقَدْ أَصَابَهُ سَهْمٌ حَيْثُ أَشَارَ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ: " أَهُوَ أَهُوَ ؟ " قَالُوا: نَعَمْ قَالَ: " صَدَقَ اللهَ فَصَدَقَهُ " فَكَفَّنَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فِي جُبَّةِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، ثُمَّ قَدَّمَهُ فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ، فَكَانَ مِمَّا ظَهَرَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ: " اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّ هَذَا عَبْدُكَ خَرَجَ مُهَاجِرًا فِي سَبِيلِكَ، قُتِلَ شَهِيدًا
Translation
✧ A man from the Bedouins came to the Prophet ﷺ, believed in him, and followed him, and said: “I will emigrate with you.” The Prophet ﷺ entrusted him to one of his companions. When it was the battle of Khaybar — or he said: Hunayn — the Messenger of God ﷺ obtained some spoil to be distributed, and he allotted a share for him. He gave his companions what he allotted, and the man was tending their riding animals. When he came, they handed it to him. He said: “What is this?” They said: “A share the Prophet ﷺ allotted for you.” He took it and brought it to the Prophet ﷺ and said: “What is this, Muhammad?” He said: “A share I allotted for you.” He said: “It was not for this that I followed you. Rather, I followed you so that I would be shot here — and he pointed with his hand to his throat — with an arrow, and die, and enter Paradise.” He said: “If you are true to God, He will be true to you.” They stayed a little while, then they rose to fight the enemy. He was brought to the Prophet ﷺ being carried, having been struck by an arrow where he had pointed. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Is it he? Is it he?” They said: “Yes.” He said: “He was true to God, and He was true to him.” Then the Prophet ﷺ shrouded him in the Prophet’s ﷺ jubbah, then brought him forward and prayed over him. Among what appeared of his prayer was: “O God, this is Your servant who went out as an emigrant in Your path and was killed as a martyr.”
