عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبْزَى، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ،
أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ عَلَى الْمَيِّتِ: " اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِأَحْيَائِنَا وَأَمْوَاتِنَا، وَأَلِّفْ بَيْنَ قُلُوبِنَا، وَأَصْلِحْ ذَاتَ بَيْنِنَا، وَاجْعَلْ قُلُوبَنَا عَلَى قُلُوبِ أَخْيَارِنَا، اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لَهُ، اللَّهُمَّ ارْحَمْهُ، اللَّهُمَّ أَرْجِعْهُ إِلَى خَيْرٍ مِمَّا كَانَ فِيهِ، اللَّهُمَّ عَفْوَكَ " وَكَانَ إِذَا جَاءَهُ نَعْيُ الرَّجُلِ الْغَائِبِ قَالَ: " إِنَّا لِلهِ وَإِنَّا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعُونَ، اللَّهُمَّ ارْفَعْ دَرَجَتَهُ فِي الْمُهْتَدِينَ، وَاخْلُفْهُ فِي تَرِكَتِهِ فِي الْغَابِرِينَ، وَنَحْتَسِبُهُ عِنْدَكَ يَا رَبَّ الْعَالَمِينَ، اللَّهُمَّ وَلَا تَحْرِمْنَا أَجْرَهُ وَلَا تَفْتِنَّا بَعْدَهُ
Translation
✧ He used to say over the deceased: 'O Allah, forgive our living and our dead, unite our hearts, reconcile our differences, and make our hearts conform to the hearts of the best among us. O Allah, forgive him. O Allah, have mercy on him. O Allah, return him to a better state than he was in. O Allah, grant him Your pardon.' And when news of the death of an absent man came to him, he would say: 'Indeed we belong to Allah and to Him we return. O Allah, raise his degree among the rightly guided, and be his successor among those who remain regarding what he left behind, and we seek his reward from You, O Lord of the worlds. O Allah, do not deprive us of his reward and do not test us after him.'
