✧ How the prayer was performed for the Prophet ﷺ

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، قَالَ:
قُبِضَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ الِاثْنَيْنِ، وَلَمْ يُدْفَنْ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمَ وَلَا تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، حَتَّى كَانَ مِنْ آخِرِ يَوْمِ الثُّلَاثَاءِ، قَالَ: وَغُسِّلَ وَعَلَيْهِ قَمِيصٌ، وَكُفِّنَ فِي ثَلَاثَةِ أَثْوَابٍ: ثَوْبَيْنِ صَحَارِيَّيْنِ وَبُرْدِ حِبَرَةٍ، وَصُلِّيَ عَلَيْهِ بِغَيْرِ إِمَامٍ، وَنَادَى عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ فِي النَّاسِ: خَلُّوا الْجِنَازَةَ وَأَهْلَهَا، وَلُحِدَ لَهُ وَجُعِلَ عَلَى لَحْدِهِ اللَّبِنُ
Translation
✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ died on Monday, and he was not buried that day or that night, until it was the end of Tuesday. He said: He was washed with his shirt on, and shrouded in three garments: two Sahari garments and a striped cloak. Prayer was performed over him without an imam. 'Umar b. al-Khattab called out among the people: "Leave the funeral bier and its family." A niche grave was dug for him, and bricks were placed over his niche.
