✧ The prostration incumbent on one who hears it

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ،
أَنَّ عُمَرَ، قَرَأَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ سُورَةً فِيهَا سَجْدَةٌ ثُمَّ نَزَلَ فَسَجَدَ وَسَجَدَ النَّاسُ مَعَهُ، فَقَرَأَ فِي الْجُمُعَةِ الَّتِي تَلِيهَا تِلْكَ السُّورَةَ، فَلَمَّا بَلَغَ قَرِيبًا مِنَ السَّجْدَةِ تَهَيَّأَ النَّاسُ لِلسُّجُودِ، فَقَالَ: " إِنَّهَا لَيْسَتْ عَلَيْنَا إِلَّا أَنْ نَشَاءَ، فَقَرَأَهَا وَلَمْ يَسْجُدْ
Translation
✧ Umar recited on the pulpit a surah containing a prostration verse, then descended and prostrated, and the people prostrated with him. He recited that same surah on the following Friday, and when he approached the prostration verse, the people prepared to prostrate. He said: “It is only upon us if we wish.” Then he recited it and did not prostrate.
