✧ The obligation of Zakat al-Fitr

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ الثَّوْرِيِّ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ كُهَيْلٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ مُخَيْمِرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي عَمَّارٍ قَالَ:
سَأَلْنَا سَعْدَ بْنَ قَيْسِ بْنِ عُبَادَةَ، عَنْ زَكَاةِ الْفِطْرِ، فَقَالَ: أَمَرَنَا بِهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَنْزِلَ الزَّكَاةُ، فَلَمَّا نَزَلَتِ الزَّكَاةُ لَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا، وَنَحْنُ نَفْعَلُهُ
Translation
✧ We asked Saʿd b. Qays b. ʿUbādah about zakāt al-fiṭr. He said: “The Messenger of God ﷺ commanded us to give it before the zakāh was revealed. When the zakāh was revealed, he neither commanded us nor forbade us, and we still do it.”
