✧ What Invalidates Jumu'ah

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ:
بَيْنَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، إِذْ قَرَأَ آيَةً فَسَمِعَهَا أَبُو ذَرٍّ، فَقَالَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ لِأُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ: مَتَى أُنْزِلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ ؟ فَأَنْصَتَ عَنْهُ أُبَيٌّ ثَلَاثًا، كُلُّ ذَلِكَ يُنْصِتُ عَنْهُ، حَتَّى إِذَا نَزَلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ قَالَ أُبَيٌّ لِأَبِي ذَرٍّ: لَيْسَ لَكَ مِنْ جُمُعَتِكَ إِلَّا مَا قَدْ مَضَى مِنْهَا، فَسَأَلَ أَبُو ذَرٍّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ عَنْ ذَلِكَ، فَقَالَ: " صَدَقَ أُبَيٌّ
Translation
✧ While the Prophet ﷺ was on the pulpit on Friday, he recited a verse, and Abu Dharr heard it. Abu Dharr said to Ubayy b. Ka'b, 'When was this verse revealed?' Ubayy remained silent three times, each time remaining silent, until when the Prophet ﷺ descended, Ubayy said to Abu Dharr, 'You have nothing from your Jumu'ah except what has already passed.' Then Abu Dharr asked the Prophet ﷺ about that, and he said, 'Ubayy spoke the truth.'
