عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ دِينَارٍ أَنَّ عِكْرِمَةَ مَوْلَى ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، أَخْبَرَهُ أَنَّ عُثْمَانَ
جَاءَ وَعُمَرُ يَخْطُبُ يَوْمَ الْجُمُعَةِ، فَانْتَحَى عُمَرُ نَاحِيَةَ الرَّجُلِ يَجْلِسُ حَتَّى يَفْرُغَ مِنَ الذِّكْرِ، فَقَالَ عُثْمَانُ: يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، مَا هُوَ إِلَّا أَنْ سَمِعْتُ الْأُولَى فَتَوَضَّأْتُ، وَخَرَجْتُ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: " لَقَدْ عَلِمْتَ مَا هُوَ بِالْوُضُوءِ
Translation
✧ He came while 'Umar was giving the khutbah on Friday. 'Umar turned aside to where the man was to sit until he finished the remembrance. Then 'Uthman said: "O Commander of the Faithful, I only managed to hear the first call, so I performed wudu' and came out." 'Umar said: "You knew it is not [sufficient] with wudu'."
