أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ قَالَ:
بَيْنَا عُمَرُ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ دَخَلَ رَجُلٌ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ: " مَا حَبَسَكَ ؟ " قَالَ: يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ، مَا زِدْتُ حِينَ سَمِعْتُ النِّدَاءَ أَنْ تَوَضَّأْتُ، ثُمَّ أَقْبَلْتُ، فَلَمَّا قُضِيَتِ الصَّلَاةُ، قَالَ لَهُ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ: أَلَمْ تَسْمَعْ مَا قَالَ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ؟ قَالَ: أَمَا إِنَّهُ قَدْ عَلِمَ أَنَّا قَدْ أُمِرْنَا بِالْغُسْلِ
Translation
✧ While 'Umar was giving the khutbah, a man entered. 'Umar said: "What kept you?" He said: "O Commander of the Faithful, I only managed to perform wudu' when I heard the call, then I came." When the prayer was over, Ibn 'Abbas said to him: "Did you not hear what he said, O Commander of the Faithful?" He said: "Indeed, he knew that we were commanded to perform ghusl."
