✧ Delivering the Sermon While Standing

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو الزُّبَيْرِ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللهِ يَقُولُ:

كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ إِذَا خَطَبَ اسْتَسْنَدَ إِلَى جِذْعٍ مِنْ سَوَارِي الْمَسْجِدِ، فَلَمَّا صُنِعَ لَهُ مِنْبَرُهُ فَاسْتَوَى عَلَيْهِ اضْطَرَبَتْ تِلْكَ السَّارِيَةُ كَحَنِينِ النَّاقَةِ، حَتَّى سَمِعَهَا أَهْلُ الْمَسْجِدِ، حَتَّى نَزَلَ إِلَيْهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ " فَاعْتَنَقَهَا فَسَكَتَتْ

Translation

✧ When the Prophet ﷺ delivered a sermon, he used to lean against one of the pillars of the mosque. When his pulpit was made for him and he stood on it, that pillar shook like the yearning cry of a she-camel, so that the people of the mosque heard it, until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came down to it and embraced it, and it fell silent.
