✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ Leaning on a Staff

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ
كَانَ يَتَخَصَّرُ بِعُرْجُونٍ مِنْ بَنَاتِ طَابٍ، قَالَ سُفْيَانُ: وَهُوَ عُرْجُونٌ مُسْتَقِيمٌ، وَيَكُونُ فِيهِ عِوَجٌ، فَيُقَامُ، قَالَ: فَأَصَابَ بِذَلِكَ الْعُرْجُونِ سَوَادَةَ بْنَ غَزِيَّةَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، الْقَوَدُ، فَقَالَ: " نَعَمْ " فَشَقَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى النَّاسِ قَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، إِنَّهُ مُحْتَاجٌ إِنَّمَا أَرَادَ أَنْ تُعْطِيَهُ شَيْئًا، فَأَمْكَنَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ مِنَ الْقَوَدِ فَقَبَّلَ بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ، فَرَضَخَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ
Translation
✧ He used to carry a straight stalk from the palms of Tabah. Sufyan said: It is a straight stalk; it may have a bend, and then it is straightened. He said: With that stalk he struck Sawadah b. Ghaziyyah al-Ansari, who said: O Messenger of God, retaliation! He said: "Yes." That distressed the people. They said: O Messenger of God, he is needy; he only wanted you to give him something. The Prophet ﷺ allowed him retaliation, and he kissed between his eyes. Then the Prophet ﷺ gave him something after that.
