عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنِ ابْنِ جُرَيْجٍ قَالَ:
قُلْتُ لِعَطَاءٍ: أَرَأَيْتَ أَهْلَ الْبَصْرَةِ لَا يَسَعُهُمُ الْمَسْجِدُ الْأَكْبَرُ كَيْفَ يَصْنَعُونَ ؟ قَالَ: لِكُلِّ قَوْمٍ مَسْجِدٌ يُجَمِّعُونَ فِيهِ، ثُمَّ يُجْزِئُ ذَلِكَ عَنْهُمْ، قَالَ ابْنُ جُرَيْجٍ: فَأَنْكَرَ النَّاسُ ذَلِكَ أَنْ يُجَمِّعُوا إِلَّا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْأَكْبَرِ
Translation
✧ I said to Ata', 'What do you think about the people of Basra? The grand mosque cannot accommodate them. What should they do?' He said, 'Each group should have a mosque in which they hold Jumu'ah, and that will suffice them.' Ibn Jurayj said, 'The people disapproved of that, that they should hold Jumu'ah except in the grand mosque.'
