✧ The imam combining wherever he may be

عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنَا صَالِحُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ الْمَكِّيُّ أَنَّهُ
كَانَ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ وَهُوَ مُتَبَدِّي بِالسُّوَيْدَاءِ، وَهُوَ فِي إِمَارَتِهِ عَلَى الْحِجَازِ قَالَ: " فَحَضَرَتِ الْجُمُعَةُ فَهَيَّئُوا لَهُ مَجْلِسًا مِنَ الْبَطْحَاءِ، ثُمَّ أَذَّنَ الْمُؤَذِّنُ لِلصَّلَاةِ، فَخَرَجَ إِلَيْهِمْ فَجَلَسَ عَلَى ذَلِكَ الْمَجْلِسِ، ثُمَّ أَذَّنُوا أَذَانًا آخَرَ، ثُمَّ خَطَبَهُمْ، ثُمَّ أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ فَصَلَّى بِهِمْ رَكْعَتَيْنِ، وَأَعْلَنَ فِيهَا بِالْقِرَاءَةِ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُمْ حِينَ فَرَغَ مِنْ صَلَاتِهِ: إِنَّ الْإِمَامَ يُجَمِّعُ حَيْثُ كَانَ
Translation
✧ He was with ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz while he was staying in the desert at al-Suwaydāʾ, during his governorship of the Ḥijāz. He said: “When Friday came, they prepared for him a seat of pebbles. Then the muezzin called the prayer, and he came out to them and sat on that seat. Then they gave another call. Then he delivered the sermon to them. Then the prayer was commenced, and he prayed two rakʿahs with them, reciting aloud in it. Then when he finished his prayer, he said to them: ‘The imam holds the Friday prayer wherever he is.’”
