Translation

✧ Ubayd b. Umayr, Saʿid b. Jubayr, and ʿAtaʾ b. Abi Rabah differed concerning al-mulamasah. Saʿid and ʿAtaʾ said: It is touching and pressing. Ubayd b. Umayr said: It is intercourse. Ibn ʿAbbas came out to them while they were thus, so they asked him and told him what they had said. He said: The two clients erred, and the Arab was correct: it is intercourse. But Allah is modest and uses a metonym.
